Chiropractic Techniques

  • Flexion-Distraction

The Flexion-Distraction technique is a specialized chiropractic treatment method primarily employed for addressing spinal conditions, particularly those affecting the lumbar region. Utilizing a specialized treatment table, this technique involves controlled flexion and distraction of the spine. Patients typically lie face down on the table while the chiropractor applies gentle pressure to specific areas of the spine, inducing a rhythmic motion aimed at stretching and decompressing the spinal structures. By relieving pressure on spinal nerves and intervertebral discs, improving spinal mobility, promoting healing through increased circulation, and reducing pain associated with various conditions such as herniated discs and sciatica, Flexion-Distraction therapy offers a conservative yet effective approach to spinal care. It's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine the suitability of this technique for individual cases.

  • Diversified

The Diversified chiropractic technique is a widely practiced method in chiropractic care, characterized by its hands-on approach to spinal and joint adjustments. During a session, the chiropractor utilizes high-velocity, low-amplitude thrusts applied with their hands to specific areas of the spine and other joints to correct misalignments and restore proper function. This technique aims to improve joint mobility, alleviate pain, and enhance overall musculoskeletal health. By targeting areas of joint dysfunction through precise adjustments, the Diversified technique offers a conservative yet effective approach to managing conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and various musculoskeletal issues. It's crucial to seek care from a qualified and experienced chiropractor to ensure the safe and appropriate application of this technique for individual needs.

  • Webster

The Webster chiropractic technique is a specialized method primarily used in prenatal chiropractic care. Developed by Dr. Larry Webster, this technique focuses on the sacrum, a triangular bone at the base of the spine, and its relationship to pelvic balance and function. The primary goal of the Webster technique is to address sacral subluxations or misalignments and associated muscular imbalances that may contribute to pelvic dysfunction. By using specific chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue techniques, the Webster technique aims to restore proper pelvic alignment and function, which may help alleviate discomfort during pregnancy and potentially facilitate an optimal fetal position for childbirth. This technique is considered safe and gentle for pregnant individuals and is commonly utilized by chiropractors who specialize in prenatal care. It's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare provider, such as a chiropractor experienced in prenatal care, to determine if the Webster technique is suitable for individual needs during pregnancy.

  • Activator

The Activator Method is a chiropractic technique that utilizes a handheld instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to deliver gentle and precise chiropractic adjustments. This method is often preferred by patients who prefer a more gentle approach to manual adjustments or those with conditions that may not respond well to manual manipulation. During an Activator adjustment, the chiropractor applies controlled, low-force impulses to specific areas of the spine or joints, aiming to restore proper alignment and function without the need for manual manipulation. The Activator Method is known for its effectiveness in addressing a wide range of musculoskeletal issues, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint dysfunction. It's essential to consult with a qualified chiropractor trained in the Activator Method to determine if this technique is suitable for individual needs and conditions.

  • Logan Basic

The Logan Basic chiropractic technique is a gentle and non-invasive method that focuses on the sacrum and its relationship to the rest of the spine. Developed by Dr. Hugh Logan, this technique aims to restore balance and alignment by addressing tension in the muscles and ligaments surrounding the sacrum. The primary tool used in Logan Basic adjustments is sustained light pressure applied to specific points along the sacrum, known as contact points. This pressure encourages the release of tension and facilitates the body's natural healing process. Logan Basic adjustments are often accompanied by gentle stretching and massage techniques to further promote relaxation and realignment. This approach is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing lower back pain, pelvic imbalance, and related musculoskeletal issues. As with any chiropractic technique, it's important to consult with a qualified chiropractor to determine if Logan Basic adjustments are appropriate for individual needs.

Benefits

  • Pain Relief

One of the primary benefits of chiropractic care is pain relief, especially for back and neck pain. It's often considered a safer, non-invasive alternative to pain medication or surgery.

  • Improved Joint Mobility and Function

Chiropractic adjustments can increase the range of motion in joints, improving flexibility and reducing stiffness.

  • Reduced Headache Frequency and Intensity

Regular chiropractic care can help in managing and reducing the frequency and severity of headaches, particularly tension headaches and migraines that originate from neck issues.

  • Better Posture

Ongoing chiropractic care can aid in correcting posture issues, especially those caused by prolonged sitting or standing in certain positions, and use of technology.

  • Enhanced Nervous System Function

Chiropractic adjustments may help improve nerve communication throughout the body, enhancing overall nervous system function.

  • Relief from Stress and Tension Disorders

By aligning the body and improving nerve function, chiropractic care can help reduce physical and mental stress.

  • Improved Physical Performance and Recovery

Athletes often use chiropractic care to improve performance and accelerate recovery from injuries, as it can enhance joint and muscle function.

  • Boosted Immune System

Some studies suggest that chiropractic adjustments may boost the immune system, though more research is needed in this area.

  • Non-Invasive and Drug-Free Treatment

Chiropractic care provides a non-surgical and drug-free option for many conditions, which can be particularly appealing for those looking for alternatives to conventional treatments.

  • Tailored Treatments

Chiropractic care is often personalized based on the individual's specific condition, history, and needs, providing a customized approach to health and wellness.

Some of Our Treatment Modalities

  • Flexion-Distraction

Flexion-distraction involves the use of a specialized table that gently distracts, or stretches, the spine. Dr. Beckley is able to isolate the area of pain while slightly flexing the spine in a pumping rhythm, bringing nutrients back in to an injured lower back or herniated disc for a speedy recovery.

  • Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)

Using the most up to date electrical muscle stimulation, we are able to increase blood circulation, maintaining or increasing range of motion in the joint, relaxation of muscle spasms, muscular re-education, symptomatic relief and management of chronic intractable pain and treatment and management of post-surgical or traumatic pain.

  • Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal Decompression Therapy is a safe and drug free treatment method for patients who suffer from chronic neck and back pain caused by disc problems and other spinal related conditions.  Decompression treatment gently stretches the spine through repetitive movements, using a special decompression table.

  • Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is applied using a round head in direct contact with the skin. It is used to speed up the healing process by increasing blood flow to the area and decreasing swelling and pain. Ultrasound can also be used to create a deep heat in a localized area to ease muscle spasms and increase soft tissue extensibility prior to stretching.
